National Current Affairs

  • India will take over the leadership of the Asian Pacific Postal Union (APPU) for the first time. Former Postal Service Board member Vinay Prakash Singh will take over as the next general secretary of APPU this month.
  • India’s first green hydrogen blending project has been commissioned by a joint effort of NTPC Limited and Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL).
  • Pariksha Pe Charcha 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ with school students, teachers and parents on January 27 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.

International Current Affairs

  • Today on January 4, World Braille Day is being celebrated all over the world. The day marks the birth anniversary of French education genius Louis Braille. Louis Braille invented the Braille script in the year 1809.
  • Walter Cunningham, the last surviving astronaut of NASA’s Apollo program, has passed away recently. Cunningham was an explorer and through his work laid the groundwork for the new Artemis lunar program. Cunningham was one of three astronauts on the Apollo 7 mission in 1968.

Current Affairs of States

  • National Handicrafts Fair is being organized at Shilparamam, Hyderabad from 4th to 18th January as part of Sankranti celebrations. Every year this festival is organized by the Ministry of Textiles. 
  • President Draupadi Murmu will inaugurate the 18th National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides in Pali district of Rajasthan.
  • The three-day winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly began at the Tapovan premises of the Vidhan Sabha near Dharamshala.
  • The ‘Gan Nagai festival’ of the Zeliangrong community will be celebrated in Manipur. It is a harvest festival.
  • The School of Economics, University of Hyderabad will organize the 57th Annual Conference of the ‘Indian Econometric Society’ from January 4 to 6. 
  • Due to the census of crocodiles in Bhitarkanika National Park, Bhitarkanika National Park will remain closed for 11 days.
