Union Agriculture Minister Munda inaugurated the building of National Integrated Pest Management Research Center

Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda inaugurated the National Integrated Pest Management Research Center of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in New Delhi.

On the occasion of inauguration of this newly constructed research and administrative building of ICAR, Agriculture Minister Munda said that this center is playing an incomparable role in the field of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for the management of pests and diseases of crops. The Union Minister expressed hope that through integrated pest management, we will be able to get such crops which will be less prone to diseases. The need for chemicals and pesticides for such crops will be minimal so that the quality of the soil is maintained.

The inauguration ceremony of the National Integrated Pest Management Research Center was also addressed by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Choudhary, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Director General of ICAR, Dr. Himanshu Pathak. The welcome address of the program was given by Dr. Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR. On the occasion of this program, Director of Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Dr. A.K. Singh, ADG Dr. D.K. Yadav, other officials of ICAR, directors of ICAR-institutions, public representatives and farmers etc were present.

Chief guest Munda said that in the present time we should work together with the food providers to build the development of a new India. Till the goal of developed India set by PM Modi by the year 2047 is achieved, we will have to be completely self-reliant in food grain production. Along with promoting natural farming and organic farming, we should make best use of technology in the agriculture sector.
