A poem on ‘National War Memorial’ and a chapter on ‘Veer Abdul Hameed’ have been included in the NCERT Class VI Hindi Syllabus from this year.

The poem and chapter are designed in line with the vision of National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023. This initiative, jointly launched by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education, aims to inculcate the values ​​of patriotism, devotion to duty, courage and sacrifice among school students from an early age to ensure the participation of youth in nation building.

‘National War Memorial’ Poem: This poem commends the spirit behind the National War Memorial. On 25 February 2019, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the National War Memorial to the nation at the iconic Central Vista ‘C’ Hexagon at India Gate in New Delhi. The memorial was established to inculcate high moral values, a sense of sacrifice, nationalism and belongingness in every citizen of the country and to pay a fitting tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives in defense of the nation.

‘Veer Abdul Hameed’ Chapter: This chapter is about the honour of the brave CQMH Abdul Hamid. He displayed his bravery during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and sacrificed his life for the country. For this, he was awarded India’s highest gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra (posthumously).
