Vijay Diwas 2022: This Day is celebrated every year on 16 December in India. The day marks India’s victory over Pakistan in the December 16, 1971 war. The memory of this war is historic for the people of India and it is going to create enthusiasm in the heart.

History of Vijay Diwas
The 1971 war was a military conflict between India and Pakistan. The war started by the Pakistan Army ended with the surrender of 93,000 Pakistani soldiers. East Pakistan became independent from the defeat of Pakistan in this war of 1971. East Pakistan currently known as Bangladesh. In this war, 3,900 soldiers of India were martyred and 9,851 soldiers were injured.
Lieutenant General A.A.K. Niazi, the commander of Pakistani forces in East Pakistan, surrendered to India’s Eastern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora. After this, on 17 December, Pakistani soldiers made prisoners of war. ‘Operation Trident’ played a major role in India’s victory in this war.
What is Operation Trident?
On December 4, 1971, by starting ‘Operation Trident’, India fought the Pakistani Navy from the seaside in the Bay of Bengal and on the other side also fought strongly against the army of West Pakistan. Under this operation, the Indian Navy also attacked the Karachi naval base and also attacked with anti-ship missiles for the first time.
The Indian Navy destroyed three Pakistani ships with this attack, although INS Khukri also sunk in the water. By this attack, The Indian Navy caused heavy damage to the Pakistan Navy Headquarters and the Karachi Oil Depot. The flames of the Karachi oil depot were visible from a distance of 60 km. It took seven days to extinguish the fire at Karachi Depot. This operation had a major role in India’s victory in this war between India and Pakistan.
