World Breastfeeding Week 2022
World Breastfeeding Week 2022 observing from 1st August to 7th August. This week celebrated every year in the first week of August to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding for mothers and babies. According to a report released by UNICEF, 60% of the world’s babies do not get the necessary breast milk for about 6 months.
World Breastfeeding Week plays an important role in raising awareness in this direction. This week celebrated every year as an awareness campaign under a specific theme. The theme of World Breastfeeding Week 2022 is ‘Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support’. Due to this week, there has been a decline in the early initiation rate of breastfeeding in the year 2020-21 as compared to the year 2015-16.
Why is breastfeeding important?
Breastfeeding is important in providing every child with the best possible start in life. It provides health, nutritional and emotional benefits not only to children but also to mothers. It is considered part of a sustainable food system.
The role can played by the members of the household, especially by the father taking care of the mother of the child, encouraging the mother to spend more time with the child and to breastfeed properly.
