The purpose of celebrating World Consumer Rights Day is to increase global knowledge of consumer rights along with promoting consumer protection. This year the day was celebrate with the theme ‘Empowering consumers through clean energy transition’ to raise awareness about consumer empowerment. The day celebrated for the first time on March 15, 1983.

Question 2. Which became the first state in India to launch an insurance scheme for silk growers?

Answer – Uttarakhand

For the protection of silk growers, the Uttarakhand government has launched the country’s first silkworm insurance program. At present, the pilot phase of this program has been started. 200 sericulture growers from 5 blocks of four districts of the state namely Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and Nainital received insurance under this programme. This insurance protects silk growers from the effects of climate change, water scarcity and other hazards.

Answer – Denmark

Recently Denmark inaugurated a project to store 1,800 meters of carbon dioxide under the North Sea. In this store, Denmark will bury CO2 imported from abroad. This CO2 cemetery is on the site of an old oil field. Carbon is injected to prevent the atmosphere from heating up.
