The ’80th Staff Course’ was initiated at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington to promote inter-services approach to jointness and integration in warfare.

What is the 80th Staff Course?

  • The 80th Staff Course is designed to train mid-career officers of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force to become skilled staff officers to become future military leaders.
  • The course equips the officers with the knowledge and skills required to operate effectively in an integrated tri-service environment.
  • The 80th Staff Course will be attended by 480 student officers including 38 officers from 26 countries over a period of 45 weeks. They will gain an in-depth understanding of the functioning of each service and the philosophy of war at the tactical and operational levels.

The course will promote a collaborative and inter-service approach to jointness and integration in warfare. It will also focus on inter-service understanding and cooperation at this early stage of their careers.
