NCERT launches Apna Chandrayaan web portal for students 

NCERT, under the aegis of Department of School Education and Literacy (DOSEL), Union Ministry of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has developed a web portal named ‘Apna Chandrayaan’ with support material based on Chandrayaan-3 activity for students. This web portal has been launched by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on 17 October 2023 in New Delhi.

Activity-based support materials such as quizzes, puzzles etc. have been made available for school students on Chandrayaan-3 mission on the ‘Apna Chandrayaan’ portal. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also released 10 special modules on Chandrayaan-3 during this period. These special modules provide comprehensive information about various aspects of the mission, covering scientific, technical and social aspects as well as the emotional journey and team spirit of the scientists involved in the mission.

A short film based on the journey of Chandrayaan-3 was shown in this program. Addressing the program, Union Minister Dharmendra described the success of Chandrayaan-3 as one of the most important achievements of the 21st century. He said that this mission has inspired the students more. Now students have gained confidence in understanding technology, this portal will help in developing scientific consciousness among them. On this occasion, Shri Pradhan suggested NCERT to bring forward such social stories which will make education accessible, affordable, qualitative as well as bring gender equality in the society.

ISRO Chairman and Secretary, Department of Space, Dr. Shridhar Panikkar Somnath attended the launch of ‘Apna Chandrayaan’ web portal as the guest of honour. Dr. Somnath expressed his gratitude to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for taking the initiative to take the stories of Chandrayaan to the young students of the country. Dr. Somnath also requested the students to watch the launch of Gaganyaan on 21st October 2023 at 08:00 am. Other guests included Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Higher Education Department, Atul Kumar Tiwari, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, AICTE Chairman Prof TG Sitaram, UGC Chairman Prof M Jagadish Kumar, NCERT Director Dr Dinesh Prasad Saklani, officials of the Education Ministry, dignitaries and students were also present.
