Recently, Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) student Chidanand Naik’s film “Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know” has been selected in the ‘La Cinef’ competitive section of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, France.
About the movie “Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know”
- The film was selected from a total of 2,263 films submitted by film schools around the world.
- The film is one of 18 short films (14 live-action and 4 animated films).
- It is the only Indian film selected in the ‘La Cinéf’ section of Cannes.
- On May 23, at the Buñuel Theatre, the jury will present the La Cinef Award in a ceremony before the screening of the honored films.
- “Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know” is the story of an older woman who steals the village’s rooster, causing chaos in the community. A prophecy is enacted to bring the chicken back, sending the old woman’s family into exile.
