Question 1. Indian Commonwealth Day celebrating on which date?

Answer – 24 May

Commonwealth Day, a worldwide celebration, is celebrating on 13 March. In India, this day is celebrating on 24 May. This year’s Commonwealth Day celebrated under the theme “Forging a Sustainable and Peaceful Common Future”. Commonwealth Day also known as Empire Day. After the death of Queen Victoria on January 22, 1901, this day announced in the year 2002 in her honor.

Question 2. From which state AFSPA law will be removed this year?

Answer – Assam

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has set a target to remove AFSPA law from the state by the end of this year. To remove this, the police force of Assam is being trained and ex-army personnel are being inducted. Apart from Assam, this law is also applicable in the Northeast of India and Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces have been given special powers under this law to control terrorism and extremism.

With the aim of involving students in the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the UGC has launched the program ‘NEP SAARTHI – Student Ambassadors for Academic Reforms in Transforming Higher Education in India’. For this UGC has requested Vice-Chancellors and Directors of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to add 3 students from their institutions to the NEP SAARTHI programme.

Answer – to Bangladesh

With an aim to strengthen bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh, Indian Railways has handed over 20 Broad Gauge (BG) locomotives to Bangladesh. This digital handover ceremony organized at Rail Bhavan. The event attended by Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Bangladesh Railway Minister Mohammad Nurul Islam Sujan. The Government of India made this commitment when Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited India in October 2019.

Question 5. In which countries is the ‘Tiger Shark 40’ exercise being organized?

Bangladesh-US Navy is conducting ‘Tiger Shark 40’ naval exercise from 22 May 2023 at BNS Nirvik, Chattogram. The objective of this joint exercise is to enhance strategic capabilities, technical and procedural knowledge of both the countries. The exercise attended by Rear Admiral Abdulla AL Mamoon Chowdhury, Commander, Bangladesh Naval Area as the Chief Guest.
