Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the placement of ‘Sengol’ in the new Parliament House. This golden scepter will be keep near the seat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This scepter has historical importance in itself. Sengol was first awarded by the British Government to Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. This scepter signifies that there was a transfer of power from the British Government to the Indian people. The name ‘Sengol’ was derive from the Tamil word “semmai”, which means “righteousness”.
