Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Limited and MSME Unity AEPL have developed Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) ‘Neerakshi’. This vehicle will be helpful in mine detection in India. ‘Nirakshi’ means ‘eyes in water’. So true to its name, this vehicle is designed to detect mines. This is the first vehicle of its kind in India.

The death anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore is observed on 7 August. Rabindranath Tagore was a Bengali poet, novelist, musician, painter and dramatist. He had developed a distinct style for songs, which came to be known as ‘Tagore Geet’.

The medal table is topped by China, which won a total of 160 medals.
