The day, marking a tragic event in global history, is observed every year on 9th August. The day pays tribute to the Japanese city of Nagasaki, which was destroyed by the atomic bomb on 9 August 1945 during World War II. The purpose of celebrating this day is to establish lasting peace by reducing the enormous destructive power of nuclear weapons.

Answer – Vaibhav Taneja
Indian-origin Vaibhav Taneja has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Tesla. Prior to Vaibhav Taneja, Secretary General of Finance Zachary Kirkhorn was serving in this post. Taneja served in various finance and accounting roles at SolarCity Corporation, the solar panel developer that was acquired by Tesla in 2016. He then served at Tesla as Assistant Corporate Controller from February 2017 to May 2018 and as Corporate Controller since May 2018. He had been serving as the CAO of Tesla since March 2019, who will now take over his responsibilities as the CFO.

The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is observed every year on 9 August by the United Nations (UN). This day is celebrated to promote and protect the rights of the indigenous population of the world. This day is also known as ‘World Tribal Day’. The theme of this year’s World Tribal Day is “Indigenous Youth as Agents of Change for Self-determination”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, presiding over the 9th National Handloom Day celebrations at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, launched the ‘Indian Textiles and Crafts Fund – Repository of Textiles and Crafts’ e-portal. This e-portal has been developed by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
