Defense Minister inaugurates Integrated Simulator Complex ‘Dhruv’ at Kochi
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Integrated Simulator Complex (ISC) ‘Dhruv’ in Kochi on June 21, 2023. ISC ‘Dhruv’ established at the Southern Naval Command at Kochi is to enhance the practical training of Indian Naval Personnel.
About Integrated Simulator Complex (ISC) Dhruv
- Modern and state-of-the-art indigenously built simulators housed at Integrated Simulator Complex Dhruv, which will significantly enhance practical training in the Indian Navy.
- These simulators are envisage to provide real time experience on navigation, fleet operations and combat skills of the Navy.
- These simulators will also be use for training of personnel from friendly countries.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited several simulators including Multi Station Handling Simulator (MSSHS), Air Direction and Helicopter Control Simulator (ADHCS) and Astronavigation Dome. ARI Pvt. The ADHCS developed by the Institute for Systems Studies and Analysis of the Defense Research and Development Organization Laboratory will be able to provide real-time operational environment scenarios to the trainees. These technologically advanced simulators mark the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. This creates a huge export potential for the nation. Apart from this, some other indigenously developed simulators include Combat Management System and Maritime Domain Lab.
About Southern Naval Command
The Southern Naval Command is one of the three command-level structures of the Indian Navy. It is headquartered at INS Venduruthy in Kochi, Kerala. It is the training command of the Indian Navy. The Command is commanded by a Three Star Flag Officer of the rank of Vice Admiral. The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command (FOC-in-C), commands this command. The current FOC-in-C is Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, who took over on 30 November 2021.
