Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region launches Swachhta Pakhwada
Swachhta Pakhwada was launched by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDONER) on 16th May, 2024 with the aim of promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability at (Annexy), New Delhi and will continue till 31st May, 2024.

- The Ministry team took the Swachhta Pledge, reaffirming its commitment towards cleanliness activities and spreading the message of Swachh Bharat Mission.
- The occasion emphasizes the importance of sustaining cleanliness initiatives throughout the year. He urged all staff members to actively participate and implement hygiene practices throughout the year.
- As part of this Swachhta Pakhwada, various activities will be carried out, including community awareness programs on eco-friendly initiatives, discouraging the use of plastic, waste management, tree plantation drives and street plays.
- During the entire period of the fortnight, the Ministry and its organizations will conduct regular hygiene inspections in all its divisions and surrounding office premises to ensure proper hygiene and record management.
- Additionally, a cleanliness drive and voluntary cleaning activities (Shramdaan) will be organized to maintain the cleanliness of Vigyan Bhawan (Annex) and its surroundings.
- Swachhta Pakhwada reflects the Ministry’s commitment towards promoting Swachh Bharat not only within the organization but also in the wider community.
Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDONER)
- It is a ministry of the Government of India whose main objective is to promote economic growth and overall development in the north-eastern region of the country.
Work
- To formulate and coordinate policies and programs for the development of the North-Eastern Region.
- To coordinate activities among various Central Ministries/Departments so that development activities in the North-Eastern Region are given priority.
- Entering into MoUs with Indian and international organizations and raising funds for development projects.
- To promote infrastructure development in the North Eastern States.
Swachhta Pakhwada
- Swachhta Pakhwada is an awareness campaign organized twice each year by the Government of India.
- During this campaign, various activities related to cleanliness are organized in government offices, educational institutions, residential areas etc. Their aim is to educate people about the importance of cleanliness.
