Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi becomes Navy Chief
Recently the Central Government has appointed PVSM, AVSM, NM Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi as the Chief of the Naval Staff. Vice Admiral DK Tripathi will assume charge on April 30. He succeeds Admiral R Hari Kumar, the current Chief of the Naval Staff PVSM, AVSM, VSM, who superannates on April 30, 2024.

- Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi was born on May 15, 1964.
- On July 1, 1985, he was appointed to the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy.
- He is a communications and electronic warfare expert.
- He has been serving in the Navy for the last 39 years.
- Vice Admiral Tripathi currently serves as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff.
- Prior to this he served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.

- Vice Admiral Tripathi has commanded Indian Naval Ships Vinash, Kirch and Trishul.
- He has also held various important operational and staff appointments: these include the posts of Operating Officer Western Fleet, Director of Naval Operations, Principal Director of Network Central Operations and Principal Director of Naval Planning in New Delhi.
- He has served as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) and Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet as a Rear Admiral.
- In the rank of Vice Admiral, he has served as Commandant of the prestigious Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala, Director General of Naval Operations, Chief of Personnel and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.
