The Department of Telecommunications has launched its Telecom Facilitation Centre in Gujarat on March 21, 2024.

- The centre is located at DoT, Telecom Gujarat Office, RTTC, 1st Floor, SG Highway, Jagatpur, Ahmedabad.
- It will provide guidance in obtaining license and authorization from DoT and understanding the terms and conditions stipulated within the said license.
- The centre will also facilitate on matters related to ROW, Building Bye-laws 2016 etc.
- It also assists in registration for PM WANI PDOA and App providers, enabling deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots across Gujarat.
- The centre will provide comprehensive support to telecom start-ups, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), incubators and hubs by providing detailed information on DoT schemes. These schemes focus on innovation, R&D including TTDF, DCIS, 5G use-case labs, skill development and green telecom technologies, which encourage growth and innovation within the sector.
- The telecom sector in India is on the cusp of a transformational breakthrough, driven by advancements in technologies such as 5G, M2M/Internet of Things (IoT) and allied technologies. Startups, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and academia are key stakeholders in this development.

The Telecom Facilitation Centre aims to enhance support for M2M service providers by guiding through global and national M2M standards and streamlining the registration process and compliance.

What are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)?
- The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act, 2006 which was notified on 2 October 2006.
- The MSMED Act, 2006 defines micro, small and medium enterprises based on investment in plant and machinery for those engaged in manufacturing or production, processing or preservation of goods and investment in equipment for enterprises engaged in providing or rendering services.
- A micro enterprise is one in which the investment in plant and machinery or equipment does not exceed one crore rupees and its turnover does not exceed five crore rupees.
- A small enterprise is one in which the investment in plant and machinery or equipment does not exceed ten crore rupees and its turnover does not exceed fifty crore rupees.
- A medium enterprise is one in which the investment in plant and machinery or equipment does not exceed fifty crore rupees and its turnover does not exceed two hundred and fifty crore rupees.
