The IndiaSkills Competition 2024 is concluding today (May 18). It was inaugurated by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on May 15.

Highlights of IndiaSkills Competition 2024

  • It is the country’s largest skills competition, designed to showcase the highest standards of skill.
  • The skill competition is being organized from 15 -18 May 2024.
  • This competition has been organized by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
  • More than 900 students and 400 industry experts from more than 30 states and union territories have participated in it.
  • The competition will see participants compete in a variety of skills ranging from construction and building technology, creative arts and fashion to information and communication technology, manufacturing and engineering technology and transportation and logistics.
  • The competition provides an opportunity to participants to showcase their diverse skills and talents across 61 skills ranging from traditional crafts to cutting-edge technologies on a national platform. A total of 47 skill competitions were organized in this, 14 competitions were organized separately from this event in Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
  • The participants also participated in 9 exhibition skills like drone-film making, textile weaving, leather shoe making and prosthetics-makeup.
  • Students participating in this competition have been trained in ITIs, NSTIs, Polytechnics, Engineering Institutes, Nursing Institutes and Biotechnology Institutes.
  • With the help of the best industry trainers, the IndiaSkills winners will prepare for the WorldSkills competition to be held in Lyon, France in September 2024. It will involve 1,500 competitors from more than 70 countries.
  • This year, participants will have the opportunity to earn credit under the National Credit Framework.
  • All the skills showcased in both the WorldSkills and IndiaSkills competitions are aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
  • This is the first time that IndiaSkills has included a competition information system called Currency.
  • Around 2.5 lakh candidates registered for the competition on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) portal, out of which 26,000 were selected through the process of pre-screening.
  • More than 900 students were shortlisted for the India Skills National Competition.

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)

  • Established: Year 2008
  • It is a non-profit organization under the Department of Training and Technology Transfer, Government of India.
  • Its main objective is to promote training programs to meet the skill requirements of the future.
