Samadhan Campaign organized in Bengdubi, Darjeeling
Recently, ‘Samadhan Campaign’ was organized by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare under the Outreach Program at Bengdubi Army Camp, Darjeeling in West Bengal.

- Under this campaign, Director General Rehabilitation Major General SBK Singh provided information about various programs available for rehabilitation of ex-servicemen.
- He also called upon ex-servicemen to take advantage of the entrepreneurship opportunities available to them.
- In this campaign, ex-servicemen from Darjeeling and surrounding districts of West Bengal and Bihar took part in the Samadhan Abhiyan.
- On this occasion, their complaints related to Sparsh pension and health care and other works were also resolved.
About Samadhan Campaign
- ‘Samadhan Campaign’ is an initiative by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare to honor the sacrifices made by ex-servicemen and their families and to actively engage with them and resolve their grievances related to various welfare schemes of the department.
- ‘Samadhan Campaign’, through its active participation and meaningful dialogue, seeks to create a conducive environment for ex-servicemen so that they can move forward and contribute positively to the society.
Ex-Servicemen Welfare Department
- It is an important department under the Ministry of Defense of the Government of India.
- The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare was established in the year 1965. It looks after the interests of ex-servicemen of the three services – Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
- The main objective of this department is to formulate programs and policies for the rehabilitation and welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents.
- This department runs many programs for ex-servicemen like employment, housing, education, health care, financial assistance.
The following major initiatives are taken by this department:
- Employment Rehabilitation – The main function of this department is to provide employment opportunities to ex-servicemen in government and private sectors. They are given special reservation under the Sainik Board Reservation Scheme.
- Financial Assistance – Ex-servicemen are provided cheap loans to start businesses through Jhallaram Financial Advisory and Services India Limited (JFIL). Pension and other allowances are also provided to widows and injured ex-servicemen.
- Housing – A subsidiary of this department allots land for housing construction and helps ex-servicemen to build houses.
- Education – Scholarship and loan schemes are run for the education of ex-servicemen children. Special coaching is also provided.
- Health Care – Ex-servicemen receive health services from hospitals and other institutions of the Ministry of Defense under the National Health Scheme.
- Troubleshooting – The department deals with the problems related to pension, land allotment etc.
