MEDITECH STACKATHON 2024 launched in New Delhi in collaboration with CII
Recently, Meditech Stackathon 2024 has been launched by Dr. Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi.
About Meditech Stackathon
- Stackathon aims to address critical challenges, boost domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependence through consultations with top industrialists, policy makers and experts.
- MediTech Stackathon has been developed to drive transformational change initiatives within India’s growing MedTech sector through comprehensive value chain analysis of selected specialty medical devices.
- Through the Stackathon, critical issues hindering the growth of the medical device industry such as import dependency, regulatory barriers and technology gaps will be identified.
- The Stackathon will deliberate on eight focus groups such as Cancer Therapy, Imaging, Critical Care, Assisted Medical Devices, Anatomical Implants, Surgical Instruments and Hospital Equipment, Consumables and Disposables, and In Vitro Diagnostic Devices (IVDs) and Reagents.
Note:
- Currently, India is the fourth largest market for medical devices in Asia and among the top 20 countries globally. Net imports for 2022-23 are USD 4101 million with an import coverage ratio of 0.45.
- India’s strong policy ecosystem provides opportunities to promote exports and reduce import dependence through domestic manufacturing.
