MoU between MSDE and Mahindra & Mahindra Limited

MSDE has signed an MoU with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited to conduct two pilot projects under the Drone Didi scheme.

Recently, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited to conduct two pilot projects under the Drone Didi scheme.

Highlights of MoU between MSDE and Mahindra & Mahindra Limited

  • This MoU between MSDE and Mahindra & Mahindra Limited will further the Ministry’s resolve to equip women with the necessary skills to contribute to nation building.
  • Under the MoU, two centers based at MSDE and M&M Hyderabad and National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) Noida have been selected for the pilot project to empower rural women in agriculture. These centers will be operated to skill 500 women through special batches of 20 women per batch.
  • A 15-day course approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will be conducted through Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) trainers at these centres.
  • Under the MoU, NSTI will provide infrastructure to conduct training programmes, hostel facilities for participants and tie up with local women self-help groups and NGOs to enhance participation.
  • Mahindra Group will provide initial set-up support at the centers, through simulation machinery/drones, simulator controllers, simulator software, desktop computers with i5 processor and trainers, and DGCA license holders including the cost of trainers for the duration of the pilot projects. Will meet the operating costs.
  • To take forward the Drone Didi scheme, M&M will launch drone training for women at the company’s skill centers in Zaheerabad, Telangana and Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Drone didi scheme

  • Start: November 30, 2023
  • The scheme aims to train 15,000 women to operate drones for agricultural purposes such as applying fertilizer to crops, monitoring crop growth and sowing seeds, etc.
  • Under this scheme, women beneficiaries are trained to become drone pilots.
  • The objective of this scheme is to economically empower rural women and make them self-reliant.
