Commemorative coin released on NT Ramrao 100th birthday
President Draupadi Murmu released a commemorative coin on the 100th birth anniversary of Late NT Ramrao. NT Ramrao 100th birthday was celebrated on 28 August this year. Speaking at NTR’s centenary year event at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, the President said late NT Ramarao enriched Indian cinema and culture through Telugu films.
Talking about N. T. Rama Rao’s acting for the lead characters of Ramayana and Mahabharata, the President said that he brought alive the characters of these mythological stories with his acting. People started worshiping him because of the roles played by NTR as Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.
NTR expressed the suffering of the common people through his acting. So people started feeling more connected to him. NTR spread the message of social justice and equality with his film ‘Manushulanta Okkate’. The meaning of his movie is ‘All men are equal’. The President said that this commemorative coin issued on the centenary year of NT Ramrao will continue to remind people of NTR’s personality.
The popularity of this Telugu actor was widespread even as a public servant and mass leader. He achieved a special position in Indian politics by his extraordinary personality and hard work. He started many public welfare programs, which shows his sense of dedication towards the society.
President Draupadi Murmu appreciated the launch of the commemorative coin on the birth anniversary of N.T. Ramrao by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Murmu said that his unique personality will always be imprinted on the hearts of the people, especially the Telugu speaking people.
About NT Ramrao
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao was born on 28 May 1923 in Nimmakuru, Madras Presidency (British India). He was a Telugu actor, film director, producer as well as a politician. He founded the Telugu Desam Party in the year 1982 and became the tenth Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. N. T. Ramrao’s surname is ‘NTR’.
Actor ‘Junior NTR’ is the grandson of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Jr NTR’s ‘RRR’ is the first Indian film whose song (Naatu Naatu) has won an Oscar.
