G20 SAI conference held in Goa
The SAI 20 conference will be held from 12 to 14 June 2023 in Goa. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India Shri Girish Chandra Murmu will deliver the inaugural address of the conference as the President of G20 SAI. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) is the chair of the Supreme Audit Institutions-20 (SAI 20) Engagement Group under India’s G20 chairmanship.
Who will participate in the G20 SAI conference?
Delegations of SAI 20 members from G20 SAIs, guest SAIs, invitees SAIs, international organizations, engagement groups and other invitees will attend the SAI 20 conference. SAIs from Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Russia, Turkey, Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Nigeria, Oman, Spain, UAE, Morocco and Poland will participate in the conference in person.
About SAI20 Conference
Under the guiding philosophy of India’s G20 Chairmanship Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India had proposed collaboration of the SAI 20 Engagement Group on two priority areas – Blue Economy and Accountable Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Marine (blue) economy is the sustainable use of marine resources for economic growth, better livelihoods and jobs while preserving the health of our ecosystems. Where AI is making more inroads in governance, SAI should mandatorily prepare itself for auditing AI based governance systems. At the same time, SAI should explore opportunities to adopt AI in its auditing techniques to increase its effectiveness.
In line with this, during the SAI20 conference, SAI India will introduce and implement addendums on Ocean Economy and Responsible AI. It features contributions and experience shared by SAI20 members and other SAIs to guide future audits on these priority areas. Eminent panelists will further share knowledge and experiences while providing insights on the ocean economy and responsible AI. Importantly, the role and responsibilities of the SAI 20 Engagement Group will be agree upon in the strategic partnership with governments going forward to promote accountability in governance and respond to global challenges.
