IAF begins digital transformation with DigiLocker integration

Indian Air Force (IAF) embarked on a digital transformation by integrating with the DigiLocker platform under the Digital India programme.

On April 26, the Indian Air Force (IAF) embarked on a transformational digital journey by integrating with the DigiLocker platform under the Digital India program.

Digital transformation of IAF begins.

The formal event to launch the digital transformation of IAF was held at Air Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan. Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology signed an important MoU to avail the secure and accessible document repository services of DigiLocker. The MoU was signed by Air Vice Marshal Philip Thomas, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (PO) of the Air Force, and Shri Akash Tripathi, Chairman and CEO of NeGD, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

This major integration of IAF and MEITy will transform how vital service documents of both types of Air Force personnel (serving and retired) are issued, received, and verified digitally. The Air Force reaffirms its commitment to data security, operational efficiency, and seamless access to information by using state-of-the-art technology.

Important point

  • Authorized Air Force departments and divisions can now upload digital records, certificates, and important documents to the national DigiLocker repository, ensuring secure storage and easy access.
  • IAF officers will have direct access to important documents such as Certificate of Service (COS) and Service Book Officer (SBO) through their DigiLocker wallet, enabling convenient retrieval and verification.
  • Within the Indian Air Force, integration with DigiLocker will streamline various processes, including Agniveer Air Recruitment. Digitally verifying the candidate’s educational documents will increase transparency and credibility.

DigiLocker is an Indian digitization online service. It is provided by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, under its Digital India initiative. It currently has more than 269 million registered users and 6.73 billion documents secured on it. DigiLocker is fast emerging as a national standard for digital document exchange platforms.
