History:
This day was first celebrated on 8 May 1948, which was started by the International Committee of the Red Cross. This day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Red Cross founder Henry Dunant.

Red Cross plays an important role in many areas like disaster management, refugee assistance, health care, blood donation etc.
