Organization of developmental-screening camp for school children
Recently, a developmental screening camp for school children has been organized by Indian Naval Hospital Ship Kalyani and Headquarters Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam.
About Developmental-Screening Camp
- This screening camp was organized to identify children of domestic helps in the age group of 3 to 6 years who have developmental deficiencies and overall development and well-being.
- Indian Naval Hospital Ship Kalyani and ENC are committed to the all-round development and care of children from marginalized backgrounds.
Indian Navy Hospital Ship INS Kalyani
- This is a very important and powerful ship. It is one of the largest hospital ships in the world.
- INS Kalyani was commissioned in 1978. It was an old oil tanker converted as a hospital ship.
- Its total length is 238 meters and its weight is approximately 28,000 tonnes.
- It has 8 operation theaters, 19 wards, X-ray machines, pathology lab and lots of other modern medical facilities.
- It has a capacity of 285 beds and can care for thousands of injured/sick.
- During emergency situations, this vessel can rapidly reach coastal locations and provide medical assistance.
- It is an important source of mobile medical facilities for the Indian Navy.
About Eastern Naval Command (ENC)
- Established: 1 March 1968
- It is one of the three naval commands of the Indian Navy.
- Headquarters: Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
- The main function of ENC is to protect India’s maritime interests in the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.
- It controls the Bay of Bengal and large parts of the Indian Ocean. Its area of responsibility includes the eastern seaboard, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
